LIFE on mARTs: Science through Art
The Center of Learning and Lifelong Learning of the University of Crete and the Natural History Museum of Crete – University of Crete, in collaboration with CasermArcheologica, are organizing three contemporary two-hour webinars in English, which aim to create new models for learning science through art. The seminars are organized within the framework of the European ERASMUS+ program “LIFE ON mARTS,” with the support of the Center for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the University of Crete (KEDIVIM-PK). During the seminars, artists, biologists, educators, and museum researchers will share their experiences and knowledge.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance from KEDIVIM at the University of Crete.
? The seminars are FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE, and are particularly recommended for educators of all levels.
They are mainly aimed at educators of all levels of education, but also at museum educators, artists, and anyone interested in the subject.
The seminars are organized within the framework of the European ERASMUS+ program “LIFE on mARTS,” with the support of the Center of Training and Lifelong Learning of the University of Crete.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance from KEDIVIM-UoC as well as a Europass supplement certificate.

Teaching modules Duration of teaching modules (hours) 1. Webinar 1: The wolf of the fairy tales and the wolf of the nature in the Natural History Museum of Crete-University of Crete (NHMC-UoC). Create your stop animation stories. 2 2. Webinar 2: Animals’ adaptations to their natural environment (NHMC-UoC). “Anìmule” and other project between art and nature in Claudia Losi’s artistic research. 2 3. Webinar 3: “Women in the sky”, the exhibition from Galileo Museum in the National Library of Florence on the role of women in astronomical research, accompanied by the embroidered canvases of the artist Ilaria Margutti, who takes inspiration from the studies conducted by Henrietta Swan Leavitt. 2 Total hours 6 - 3 Scientific Coordinator

I. Stathi
Iasmi Stathi is a biologist with a PhD in Taxonomy, Ecology, and Phylogeography of Scorpions (Arachnids) and is responsible for the scorpion collection at the Natural History Museum of Crete at the University of Crete (NHMC-UoC). Since 2016, she has been a member of the teaching staff at the School of Science and Technology of the University of Crete. She is a member of the National Centre for the Certification of Continuing Education Structures (EKEPIS) as an adult educator. She has twenty-three years of experience in Environmental Education, Student Education, Lifelong Learning, and Educational Research and Development at the Department of Education of MFIK-PK, the Technical University of Crete, and the Hellenic Mediterranean University (formerly TEI of Crete). She has participated in more than 20 Research Education programs funded by either national or European resources.
